Including 45,000 kilometers of roads and 208 bridges! This is the need today to open up rural areas in Morocco.
The figure was announced by the Minister of Equipment and Transport Aziz Rebbah which is based on an assessment commissioned by his department to prepare the third version of the national program of rural roads (NRRP). The previous two that spread successively from 1995 to 2005 and from 2005 to 2012, aimed to achieve respectively 12 000 and 15 000 km of roads. For PNRR 3, the budget needed to achieve the 45 000 km is estimated at 50 billion dirhams.

Morocco is in a furhter growing need to open up. Both for its expanding economy and growing tourism. There are still big parts barely accessible by road.
When we realise that Marrakech is the most south orientated city that is accessible by train and plane, one can immagine what it takes from there to reach the more southern parts of the country! Parts, that in its growing Solar power investments might becoming to play a important role for the future.
