TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!

Since we moved here, about 3 months ago, whenever I was at the beach for a wlk, I could not help but stare at the little village I saw in the hills. Everytime I thought I should once go there and look because to my idea it would be offering stunning views on Essaouira and the isle of Mogador.
Remembering that opportunities only knock once I decided yesterday it was the day to finally go there.
And what we saw was breathtaking...Like a still undiscovered jewel , it is resting there at a first line oceanfront. Beside the Mogador Golf resort and a project under development that offers homes to some verry rare birds already, like the rose flamingo.
The little village of Diabat is full of potential.  It takes a 2,5 km walk on the beach! to the port of Essaouira!

DESERTEC PROGRESSING WITH PLANS FOR SOLAR PROJECT IN MOROCCO

The Desertec Foundation, an international collaboration between politicians, companies and scientists founded to develop renewable energy sources, will continue assisting the Moroccan government in setting up the solar energy project in that country.
This in spite of the decission taken bij Siemens and Bosch earlier this year to leave the initiative due to the economical circumstances worldwide.

The Desertec Foundation and the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ADEREE) have signed a memorandum
to strengthen the current plans for the construction of a huge range of solar power plants in northern Morocco . The plant will generate electricity for the domestic market and for Europe.

The Desertec Foundation announced  three years ago to build concentrated solar power plants in North Africa
. The Moroccan government and the DESERTEC Foundation have joined forces to create renewable energy for North Africa and Europe.

The new agreement strengthens existing agreements and helps the solar power projects to accelerated to completion. The country has already started building a 500MW power plant in the city of Ouarzazate.

This puts Morocco in a position to grow and expand its leading position in this market.
"Morocco, with this project is not only a visionar in the region, but also a successful pioneer in the global transition to renewable energy, in which ADEREE plays an important role," says Director of the Desertec Foundation, Dr. Thiemo Gropp.

NEW FLIGHTS TO ESSAOUIRA

Last months we have been hearing rumors and this time the good news is an additional airline between Paris-Orly and Essaouira.

Transavia flies Essaouira as from this Spring

Since the complete renovation of the airport terminal Mogador in 2010, many of us were waiting for additional flights to Essaouira.

This time things happen with the airline Transavia.

Transavia Airlines is an independent division of Air France and KLM airline "low cost"
They serve more than 60 destinations and 19 destinations regular charter in Europe.
In talking with ONMT (Moroccan National Tourist Office) for several months the Franco-Dutch operator says Essaouira is on its list of destinations.

A press release and a wide media campaign line will be launched later to boost sales.
Tour Operators have already started selling to groups and

individualscan start booking as from 11 December 2012 on the site www.transavia.com.

Flight from Paris Orly - Essaouira are scheduled on Mondays and Fridays and that as of 01st March 2013.
The company Transavia does not hide his desire to expand routes to Morocco with new lines. The air operator is already serving the airport of Marrakech, Fez, Oujda, Agadir, Ouarzazate or, and welcomes this development to Morocco, and to Essaouira.

Hopefully Transavia is not the only company to serve Essaouira, after the last echoes, a link London - Essaouira is under negotiation ... to be continued!

MOROCCO: 3rd STEP IN OPENING UP THE COUNTRYSIDE!

infrastructure
Another 45 000 km to open up the countryside!
This figure was announced by Aziz Rebbah, Minister of Equipment, which is based on a diagnosis sponsored by his department to prepare the third version of the national rural roads program (NRRP).

This according to an article published in La Vie éco on november 15        www.lavieeco.com

Including 45,000 kilometers of roads and 208 bridges! This is the need today to open up rural areas in Morocco.
The figure was announced by the Minister of Equipment and Transport Aziz Rebbah which is based on an assessment commissioned by his department to prepare the third version of the national program of rural roads (NRRP). The previous two that spread successively from 1995 to 2005 and from 2005 to 2012, aimed to achieve respectively 12 000 and 15 000 km of roads. For PNRR 3, the budget needed to achieve the 45 000 km is estimated at 50 billion dirhams.

Morocco is in a furhter growing need to open up. Both for its expanding economy and growing tourism. There are still big parts barely accessible by road.
When we realise that Marrakech is the most south orientated city that is accessible by train and plane, one can immagine what it takes from there to reach the more southern parts of the country! Parts, that in its growing Solar power investments might becoming to play a important role for the future.

BEHIND MOROCCON DOORS

Wandering the narrow streets of the Medina, you pass treasures without knowing it. Sometimes , when you are blessed, you might catch a glimp of what lies behind....

Let me take you to this Renovation to show you the secret of a century old house in the Medina of Essaouira.
And believe me, if you want something like this? I know just the palace, in a structural perfect condition, that is resting , as a sleeping beauty, waiting to be awakened by her prince and shine again, Insha'Allah...

ESSAOUIRA HOTSPOT FOR ELITE GLOBETROTTERS

I would like to share this article from late december Italian Vogue with you.
For anyone who is still doubting the potential essaouira has to offer, Italy and Italians are known to see and recognice style and trends!

If until recently Marrakech was the “it” place, today Essaouira attracts more of Europe’s elite globetrotters visiting Morocco. The cosmopolitan air of the “white city” protected by UNESCO that is just 120 kilometers from the “red” Marrakech (easyJet, Europe’s Best Low Cost Airline, flies from Milan Malpensa Airport to Marrakech daily) and enjoys a mild climate even in summer, thanks to the constant sea breeze called the taros, is the favorite spot of high society travelers

MOROCCO ENJOYS MORE ATTENTION FROM EUROPEAN EURO'S

Spain reaches out in the economic crisis more and more to Morocco.
That Spanish inhabitants go to Morocco to look for work has become a familiar phenomenon, but companies are starting to see salvation in the Moroccan economy. According to research Spanish entrepreneurs are increasingly interested in Morocco now when the economy is miserable in their own country possibilities are being treated as financial options. Hundreds of entrepreneurs,  companies and investors have expressed interest in a possible move to Morocco. Morocco is with 700 Spanish companies  'best partner'
after France of the ravaged country.

On September 12 personalities from the Moroccan and European economies
will be talking on investment opportunities at a special meeting in Morocco, reports Hibapress. Construction, energy, tourism and communication seem most interesting to both parties.

When concerning Tourism, this is not only interesting for major international investors,
Morocco hopes to attract more tourists to its Mediterranean and Atlantic coastal regions. In fact, it aims to double the amount of incoming tourists by 2020.

What do the figures show us:
in 2001, 4.4 million tourists came to Morocco whereas 9.2 million arrived in 2010. In 2011 in spite of the global crisis this figure went up to  9.35 million. Taking into account the global financial crisis, increasing worries about visiting Muslim countries and strong competition in tourism industry, it is quite an achievement.
However, the Moroccans are not stopping there, and plan to double these figures by 2020, and they have the will and the cash to do it. Morocco’s cause has so far been well backed by many Arab pledges and there is no sign that the trend will not continue.
King Mohammed VI of Morocco has made it clear that tourism and its promotion is a top priority for his country in years to come that is why there are great efforts on an external and internal basis. Apart from the obvious financial advantages, an increase in inbound tourism would open Morocco up to a greater level of cultural awareness, which, in most cases, improves the standards of the country itself.

WHY PROPERTY IN MOROCCO?

Moroccan hot spots are for over 15 years already attracting the world's rich and famous while investors in property in Morocco expect the value of property to sharply increase once it becomes a fully-fledged holiday destination.
This  is not happening yet at a great scale but for those who have been visiting the country more often in the last 10 years, it is becoming more and more visible that it will not take so long before it will be discovered by a group of homebuyers that want to get more exclusive locations, and investments options then nearby countries like Spain and Portugal....
Real Estate in Morocco is becoming increasingly popular with all types of real estate investors. Buyers are currently highly interested in property investment in Morocco due to the high quality developments being constructed at bargain prices. Many of the new and off-plan properties in Morocco form part of projects aimed at the exclusive, luxury market and come complete with outstanding features and facilities. Morocco is a growing country with a focus on becoming fast a popular investment location not only for property but also for industrial opportunities

Another fact is that Morocco has the most unspoiled beaches one can dream. And this is one of the focus points of the government. They want a sustainable development and pay great attention on keeping beaches and dunes intact.

The century old town of Essaouira (Mogador) is therefore unique. It still has the old medina wich is Unesco World Heritage, where you can find riads that are renovated with great respect, but where you still can find property waiting for renovation with stunning views.
it offers unspoiled beaches , a golfresort almost on the beach, built with great respect for nature, and prices are incredable low still at this moment.
Expanding the place is not much longer an option and therefore buying real estate there now will be a goldmine in the near future.

Historically speaking, the sea-side is where it’s at. There’s just something about the lapping waves that draws visitors to a particular area, long after the local residents have got bored of going to the beach. It’s always the case. If you live in London, you never go to the Theatre. If you live in southern Spain, you never go to the beach. If it’s there all the time, you tend to take it for granted.
And that theory spills over into the property world, because no matter how ramshackle a property on the sea-front might be, and how ever much it may attract disdain from local residents, it’s still on the sea-front and that means it will still command a jolly good rental income, even while superior properties a little further inland are taking the brunt of the downturn.
So if you are interested, you want to know what you can get for what money, we are there, on site to help you out and make this first selection for you.
Right that is what we love to do, searching  and make you amazed.

IN MOROCCO, SUN MEANS ENERGY

Morocco's has the ambitious and expensive plan to draw 40 percent of its energy needs from the limitless power of its blazing sun by 2020. In 2009, Morocco announced a $9 billion project to build five solar energy plants to harness the sun's rays and produce 2,000 megawatts of electricity by 2020 and will soon announce which international consortium has won the bid to start work on a 160-megawatt solar power plant to be built in the southern city of Ouarzazate.
The Ouarzazate plant is expected to be operational by 2014, with plans to boost its capacity to 500 megawatts by 2015.
But solar energy does not come cheap.
The Ouarzazate plant was originally set to cost $440 million, but has since ballooned to at least $1.25 billion.
Funding comes from an array of international sources, including the World Bank, the African Development Bank and a consortium of German companies promoting solar energy across North Africa called Dii.
Similar projects are planned in Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan, but none are nearly as advanced as in Morocco, where the 2,500 hectare (10 square mile) Ouarzazate site has been marked out on the edge of the desert.
Morocco's plants will be using concentrated solar power.
In the Morocco facilities, endless rows of parabolic mirrors will heat up a synthetic oil, which will then produce steam to turn turbines to produce the electricity.

“In just six hours, the earth’s deserts receive more energy from the sun than all humanity consumes in one year.”
Dr Gerhard Knies
Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Desertec Foundation

HOT SUMMERS - MILD WINTERS

As you would expect, being so close to Spain and the Canary islands Morocco mirrors that of Mediterranean countries. This means Morocco enjoys hot summers and mild winters with little rainfall, the climate here is perfect for holidays as it is very reliable and, well documented, that there are over 300 days of sunshine per year.
But there are certain spots that do even better! The Atlantic coast offers you the whole year a perfect climate.
When it is winter in Spain, it is spring at the coastal cities in Morocco. When it gets summer there and hot, it still is verry comfortable weather in those Moroccon places. What a difference with cities like Marrakech only a couple of 100 km away where it can be hot hot hot in summer.

SKIING, CULTURE, NIGHTLIFE....

A well hidden secret about Morocco, well..to be honest there are a lot. That is what makes it so mysterious....
Do you know you can ski?

Skiing in Africa is still a strange concept to many but the ski market in Morocco is thriving. Home to the highest luxury ski resort in Africa (3000m up in the Atlas mountains)  it comes complete with lifts, hotels and all the plush extras you’d expect from any luxury ski holiday at a French or Swiss outfit. Morocco really is home to best of Africa’s luxury ski holidays, with ski trips easily arranged from destinations like Agadir in the foothills of the Atlas mountains.

Do you know nightlife in Morocco can be beyond what we have here? Far beyond...

I only mention those because I know them personally or I had friends involved in the design and I admit, just like all beautiful riads they play hard to find. You can pass them a 100 times in the small streets and then, suddenly it catches your eye as a door opens.

Do you know staying in Morocco will change you for ever ?
Yes, of course you know, that is what everyone "wants" to experience, but few really do as they never get there and keep dreaming about it!
Let me just share this one with you...
Sir Richard Bransons retreat...

An effort is being made to keep developments in harmony with the surroundings. A variety of sports and some more relaxed activities are on offer. The majority of these activities are based on the stunning natural beauty of Morocco to create memorable experiences.
